Target audience and benefits

Learning to work with an IT application follows a different path in the human mind than other topics studied. The forgetting curve is steeper and so the need to revisit instructions and recall steps is greater.

In this short course you will acquire the following:

  • an understanding of the success criteria in developing IT tutorials - main issues to consider and pitfalls to avoid
  • structuring the IT tutorials on two levels addressing the different stages of the learning curve

Here is the content and activities of the program, ordered according to the different impact areas targeted:

    MINDSET

Learning focused on forgetting and remembering

Much of the 'how-to' knowledge regarding IT apps tends to fade shortly after our initial exposure to it. We can therefore say that we learn to forget, which in turn helps for effortless recall at a later time.

  • psychology of working with IT applications - how does it differ from learning other topics?
  • why do we need to take this specificity into account and how can we do it?
  • quality criteria of an impactful IT tutorial - what really matters in practice?
  • main myths and barriers - how to get over "I'm not a technical person"

    KNOWLEDGE

An essential set of skills and techniques

Relevant and impactful practices ready for widespread use in your organization to befriend people with technology.

  • the two dimensions of tutorial development - for initial accommodation and for on-the-job reminders
  • how we understand an IT application - methods of analyzing and documenting an IT application and the context of its use
  • how to avoid rework - early validation with different stakeholders of the app working sequences
  • getting used to the process - techniques for voiceover scripting and screenshots
  • how do we involve A.I. technologies to work more efficiently?

    PRACTICE

Getting used to working practices

Collaborative practice on generic projects, with feedback from the trainer and group mates. You will learn the prerequisites for skills that you can then practise on your own.

  • collaborative reflection exercises - analysis of IT tutorials through the lens of success criteria learned
  • working on a generic project - practising working with a computer application proposed by E-Campus using different versions of the IT tutorial

    TECHNOLOGY

A selection of IT applications to use

In this program, you will become familiar with a carefully chosen set of IT applications useful for designing impactful IT tutorials. Of course, they're not the only ones possible, but it's a good start.

  • To create the script: ChatGPT + applications that use it
  • For video capture: Camtasia, browser extensions
  • Editing tutorials: Camtasia, Canva, etc.

    COMMUNITY

Optimal collaboration and support ratio

Upon enrolment in the program you will receive access to the Learn@E-Campus platform, a collaborative learning and working space. What you will find here:

  • course resources and materials for study and later review
  • spaces for discussion and collaboration with colleagues
  • support from the trainer during the course session
  • E-Campus L&D community news, articles and events
